Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: Chapter 19-20

Reflection on Chapters 19-20: Living Without Attachment (Verse 19), Living Without Striving (Verse 20)

How timely that I read this now that I am feeling pressure in my life to move on (in some respects)? Others see something wrong in my life while I have been trying to live in the Now and not rely on future events to make me happy. It is challenging when some of the key people in your life are encouraging you to make progress towards a future goal because they care about you and your own efforts to live happily in the Now are misunderstood. “Practise letting go of thoughts of what’s not here now” is not an easy thing to do in a society that measures success through progress and achievements. There comes a point where we just need to reach out and grab what we want in life, but this needs to come from a place of creativity and growth. Eternal want will ultimately destroy us because there is always something to want, always something we don’t have. Simply accept what is offered in the Now.

In response to my readings of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s book Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao.
